Alex Harrison

Alex Harrison was born in Cornwall and trained at Elmhurst School for Dance, in association with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Upon graduation he danced with ballet companies in both Europe and America, most notably as a First Soloist with the Sarasota Ballet in Florida. He has performed lead or featured roles in works by Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Kenneth Macmillan, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon and Jiri Kylian, as well as the classics, and has danced in theatres in New York, Washington DC and at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.

 

Following his ballet career, Alex became a musical theatre performer. His theatre credits include: Mister Mistoffelees in the International Tour of “Cats” (China and Europe),  ensemble in “On the Town” (Hyogo Performing Arts Centre, Japan), ensemble/cover Alberto Beddini in “Top Hat” (Mill at Sonning Theatre) and ensemble in “42nd St” (Theatre du Châtelet, Paris).

 

For television: Hal/Dolly double in Netflix’s “The Sandman”. 

 

Alex has always taught alongside his dance career and has led workshops or classes in both private and vocational settings, gaining his Level 5 Teaching Qualification (distinction) from the British Ballet Organisation in 2021. He is now a full-time classical ballet tutor at Elmhurst Ballet School, and has recently also taught for the BBO, Grad Pro, London Studio Centre Midlands Associates and Midland Theatre Ballet to name a few.
